National Homeownership Month
Javin Lopez
June
Every June we celebrate National Homeownership Month.
If you've been watching the news, you'd think buying a home today requires winning the lottery, inheriting a castle, and sacrificing your firstborn.
Reality is usually much less dramatic.
Yes, affordability is a real challenge. Interest rates matter. Inventory matters. Every market has its own story. But headlines are designed to get clicks ,not always to give context.
The truth? Real estate isn't a national conversation. It's a local one.
I've had buyers who thought they needed 20% down. They didn't.
I've met homeowners who assumed they couldn't qualify. They could.
I've seen people wait years because of bad information instead of asking the right questions.
Sometimes the biggest obstacle to homeownership isn't the market t's misinformation.
Owning a home isn't the right move for everyone, and there's nothing wrong with renting until the timing makes sense. But that decision should come from facts, strategy, and your financial goals not from fear created by a headline written 1,000 miles away.
National Homeownership Month isn't about convincing people to buy.
It's about helping people understand their options.
Because good decisions start with good information.
